Gabby Young and Other Animals posters

Hello ! Just a sneaky preview of the new tour posters just completed for Gabby Young And Other Animals , a slightly different version of the website ones though as I decided that I really liked this vintage coffee coloured background best…this was originally a competition advertised in Amelias Magazine http://www.ameliasmagazine.com/ from which Gabby chose 15 artists to produce limited edition posters for various gigs in the uk and america.

Its worth checking out the website as there are some really beAutiful posters by other artists too ! : ) www.gabbyyoungandotheranimals.com  If you’ve not seen Gabby she has the most amazing fiery red hair and when I saw her I had a flashback to a beautiful Tolouse Lautrec poster that my parents had of his muse Jane Avril , the  red haired parisian dancer. I think one of my earliest memories is lying in bed with my mum staring at that poster so I was really happy to try and get some inspiration from it for this brief.

The tour started in London on the 20th October and is all over the UK with some secret gigs in london and the US later on. They’re amazing live , like a crazy edwardian circus band all swirling accordions , violins and double bass with gabbys gothic lyrics and voice on top . If you like Tom Waits or Beirut then they’re totally up your street .

Ive been busy painting these  new plates for a commission this  week and once I mastered the art of controlling a very drippy and unco-operative pen am really happy with the results.  I’d been doing some early and constantly smudged attempts at last weeks LO-FI DIY craft evening run by Nico , one of the other members of Manchester Craft Mafia www.manchestercraftmafia.co.uk which were a riot of colour until someone wisely pointed out that sometimes less is more …and how right they were! So now these plates as you’ll see are black , white n pink… simple .
